How The Procedure
Works
We use instrumentation and various
procedures
in specific chiropractic work. Each step is vital to assure the proper
care. Your health experience is dependent on the consistancy of this
protocol.

- Consultation

After completing your
entrance paperwork which covers the reason for your visit including
problems, challenges, family history, lifestyle and expectations, one
of our chiropractors will conduct a thorough consultation. The
goal of this interaction is to help determine your health status and
possible causes to why you are where you are presently on the health
spectrum.
- Chiropractic Examination

A complete chiropractic
examination will then be performed by one of the Michigan Specific
chiropractors. We do this to gather the information necessary to
ascertain the function of the central nervous system. It helps us
locate the source of the interference caused by the vertebral
subluxation (misalignment of the bones in the top of the neck that
alters communication between the brain and the body).
Thermography, atlas fossa thermometry, leg length differential,
posture and palpation make up the chiropractic examination.
- Paraspinal Thermography

Thermography is
specifically used to detect the function of the nervous system through
skin temperature readings. Abnormal temperature variation is a direct
indication to a malfunctioning nervous system. At Michigan
Specific Chiropractic we use both thermocouple and infrared devices to
help us better evaluate nervous system function.
- Atlas Fossa Thermometry

This is a single probe
thermocouple measuring device we use as another level of analysis of
the nervous system. It figures very prominently with the
evaluation of babies, infants and small children to determine nervous
system function.
- Spinography

It is vitally important
in the evaluation to understand how the bones have moved from their
normal position to their misaligned position. This can only be
realized through the use of x-ray. Spinographs are taken of the
neck to determine exactly the path the bones took from before to now.
This allows us to make the proper adjustment.
- Analysis

When all of the
information has been gathered from the consultation, chiropractic
examination including thermography, thermometry, leg length
differential, posture, palpation and spinography a thorough analysis is
performed to establish nervous system function, vertebral subluxation
presence, and proper adjustment method.
- Chiropractic Adjustment

The adjustment is given
only when interference is detected in the nervous system. It is a
specific upper cervical adjustment which has been known as HIO, solid
headpiece, toggle recoil which are all names for the same type of
adjustment. The position in which this adjustment is given is
determined by the analysis.
- Rest Period

All patients as part of
their adjustment are rested for anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours
depending upon the severity of the case.
- Post-Check Evaluation

After the rest period a
post check thermographic scan is performed to see whether the nervous
system interference has been removed. This maintains the high
level of quality assurance Michigan Specific is known for in removing
the impediment to normal function and healing.
