What Is Specific Chiropractic?
The principle of health within you which
at
every moment of your life is coordinating and regulating your body's
functions from the breath you take to the beat of your
heart and
everything else uses the brain, brainstem and spinal cord as its
communication lines. Open communication lines means your body is doing
the appropriate processes at the appropriate times which translates to
health and well-being. Interference in this communication system leads
to malfunction and this leads to sickness.
You can imagine the havoc that would occur if the vast array of
computers and communication lines where interfered with at Houston
Control in the middle of a space shuttle launch and flight. Loss
of information, cross-talk, dangerous situations and possible failure
and crash are all likely outcomes if this were to happen. As
complex and large Houston Control is, your brain and brainstem
communication system is vastly larger and more complex. So imagine
having interfence of communication in your control center and all the
functions and systems it would hinder, impair and damage!
Specific chiropractic is the method by which we maintain the central
nervous system free of intereference and funtioning optimally. We do
this by first locating, analyzing, and removing of the source of
central nervous system interference called the vertebral
subluxation. Chiropractic instrumentation and procedures are
used
in this analysis including paraspinal infrared and thermocouple
thermography, atlas fossa thermometry, and leg length mensuration among others.
Contrary to popular belief, the goal of specific chiropractic is not
the adjustment. In fact, specific chiropractic attempts to adjust as
few times as possible. The goal is a much more important much
more
significant one of maintaining the nervous system free of interference.
The longer the body functions free of nervous system interference the
faster the body can heal and ultimately attain health.
In specific chiropractic, the focus is on the master control area of
the central nervous system, the brain stem. The brain stem is protected
by and housed mostly in the skull and upper two bones of the neck. This
junction between the head and the neck is called the upper cervical
area. These top two bones are called the Atlas and Axis and are
uniquely designed to allow for the greatest amount of movement of the
head and neck. Because of this there is a greater chance for these
bones to misalign. This misalignment can be the source of interference
and because of their proximity to the brainstem the effects can be
global and devasting to function and health.
